Mariana del Olmo Ruiz
I am a mycologist interested in the symbiotic relationships that fungi establish with other organisms, mainly plants, with a special interest in both ecological and evolutionary aspects of these associations. I completed my undergraduate studies in the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in 2003, presenting a taxononomic work of soil microfungi from a banana plantation in southeastern Mexico. In the same year and place, I started my MS work, which focused on endophytic fungi associcated two species of trees in a tropical reserve at Calakmul, Campeche, México. I am currently a graduate student and CONACyT Fellow in the Division of Plant Pathology and Microbiology of the University of Arizona, where I am focusing on endophytic fungi associated with neotropical ferns. |
